Monkey Studies

These are examples of observational studies I have drawn of monkeys.

During a personal trip to Tywcross Zoo, I sat down by the chimp enclosure and had ago at drawing the chimps whilst they were moving around. This was a challenging activity, however a great lesson in observational drawing and I found the experience very benificial.

The two drawings above are drawings of primary imagery I took of the chimps whilst on my visit. The studies are completed in pencil and are simple line drawings exploring the monkeys form.

Albert II Drawing

space monkey.png

This is a tonal drawing I have drawn from a secondary photograph of Albert II.

I have created this piece as part of my project 'Monkeys in Space'. The drawing is of Albert II the first monkey to be recorded going to space. My project will explore the journey a monkey goes on, starting in the Jungle to ending up in Space.

The piece demonstrates my skills using penicl and shows my tonal techniques. I have paid attention to the textures within the photograph and used different mark making techniques to recreate the textures.
